Make Music Day is a free celebration of music, which happens around the world every year on the 21st of June in commemoration of World Music Day.
Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la
Musique, it has become a global celebration held on the same day in more than 700 cities in 120 countries.
Make Music is a multi-venue event, open to anyone who wants to take part. Musicians (young, old, amateur, or professional) from diverse musical persuasions get a platform to share their music with the world. All events are free, Un-ticketed, and open to the public.
And, unlike a typical music festival, anyone and everyone would be invited to join and play music, or host performances. The event would take place on the summer solstice, June 21, and would be called Fête De La Musique. (In French, the name means both “festival of music” and “make music!”)
